Butler, Pennsylvania, is found less than an hour from Pittsburgh and is a hub that boasts a wide selection of shops, restaurants and attractions. While in town, visitors can go to the Maridon Museum to learn about the Chinese and Japanese cultures through paintings, artifacts, clothing and more. The county’s fairgrounds, Big Butler Fairgrounds, are located just outside of the city and feature events such as the Big Butler Fair. Golfers will be in heaven here, as the town alone has close to 10 golf courses, with dozens more located in the surrounding communities. Moraine State Park and Lake Arthur are a short drive away from Butler. This natural area offers a plethora of outdoor opportunities throughout the year, such as camping, fishing, hiking in the spring, summer and fall, and ice skating, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter.
